Trademarks lost in computer crash

Among articles explicitly identified with fields of e-business and protected innovation that have large amounts of the Internet I discovered one which I accept is exceptionally fascinating and simultaneously extremely characteristic of conceivable legitimate issues that may emerge in those fields. This is the article from The Royal Gazette named â€Å"Trademarks lost in PC crash†. This article portrays a mishap which occurred with the automated Trademark Registry in Bermuda, which is an island Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom arranged in the Atlantic Ocean with inside self-administration. What makes Bermuda extraordinary is that it is known as one of the most significant seaward monetary focuses of the world.More explicitly, the article in The Royal Gazette reports about the PC database crash which caused the loss of records about roughly 50% of the 37000 trademarks enrolled in Bermuda, talks about resulting outcomes of this accident, and notices some lawful issues and inconveniences that emerged from this obviously unforeseen event. In general, one of the accents that the article makes is on the chaos that went with the issues with the PC equipment and the comparing suspension of exercises in the huge trademark segment of Bermuda.Interestingly, the writer of the article focuses additionally to the underlying foundations of the specialized issue itself, and notices realities which propose an inclusion of a human factor as one of the reasons for the problem. Now, among legitimate business issues brought up in the article we may recognize the accompanying ones. Right off the bat, since for a drawn out timeframe enrollment of new trademarks was suspended and in light of the fact that the entire trademark division completely depends upon the Trademark Registry, legal advisors who spoke to organizations with trademarks enlisted in the Trademark Registry in Bermuda couldn't be certain that their licensed innovation had been ensured or that no clashing imp rints or encroachments on property would develop after the manual recuperation of the database. At a similar time, the article causes us to notice the way that the PC crash, while being a gross humiliation for Government which has been advancing Bermuda as a main focal point of e-business and licensed innovation, likewise fills in for instance of what sorts of encumbrances e-business may experience from time to time.Indeed, if such a mishap has happened once, it might occur also in different nations, and as the writer of the article calls attention to that trademark segments of for example the United States and Britain is a lot bigger, it is anything but difficult to envision what chaos could emerge there in a comparative situation. In thusly, one of the principle legitimate issues that e-business faces is the formation of extra lawful systems which, obviously alongside the expanded insurance of significant and private information, would guarantee assurance of protected innovation in any event, during such crisises as the one that occurred in Bermuda, and, critically, supply members required into e-business and accordingly particularly powerless to negative outcomes of issues much the same as the one in Bermuda with a feeling of security. On ground of this, we may presume that lawful issues influence business in immediate and aberrant manners. For instance, the anticipation of related business exercises during the timeframe required for the manual rebuilding of the database had some solid financial costs. On the other hand, despite the fact that the issue with the modernized Trademark Registry in Bermuda was settled in a generally quick way this mishap without a doubt had struck a hit to the picture of Bermuda. Undoubtedly, the issues could, and so far as that is concerned should, have been maintained a strategic distance from in any case by just giving more consideration to the support of the hard circles with the put away data, and by ensuring that back-up frame works worked properly. And despite the fact that I feel that it is improbable that such an issue will reoccur later on in Bermuda, I accept that the practical answer for the Trademark Registry to utilize this difficulty isn't just to reinforce their PC framework, however to repay to organizations, which have trademarks enrolled in Bermuda and which experienced burdens brought about by the loss of information, in both an immediate way, and in an aberrant way by guaranteeing them in an expanded assurance of security of their licensed innovation in the future.SourcesBreen, S. Sex Discrimination at Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart stores, the world’s greatest retailer, claims in excess of 4,000 stores, including 1,475discount stores 1750 Wal-Mart Supercenter mix rebate and supermarkets and 540 Sam’s Club Warehouse stores. With near 2,000,000 representatives around the world, Wal-Mart is the greatest business supplier on the planet. In this paper I will talk about; 1. What money related effect could the claim conceivably have on Wal-Mart? 2. What are the significant good objections of the females suing Wal-Mart? Are these ethical grievances are advocated? Why? . What, on the off chance that anything, ought to Wal-Mart do to address these inconsistencies? Should the organization establishment a â€Å"affirmative action† advancement program for female representatives? Provided that this is true, what should this program resemble? 4. Do ladies have the right to win their claim? In spite of the fact that Wal-Mart endured heaps of claims which included youngster work, illicit settler la borers, inability to pay after some time charges the ongoing and significant claim they are confronting now is the oppression female representatives in advancements, pay, the executives preparing and work assignments. It was, in this way, an essential occasion in June 2004 when a government judge extended a claim recorded by six California ladies to a class activity. The case has now mushroomed to cover 1. 6 million ladies Wal-Mart laborers, utilized across the nation since 1988, making it, by a long shot, the biggest class activity in U. S. history. What money related effect do you figure claim might have on Wal-Mart? We as a whole know, Wal-Mart is the greatest or biggest retail location on the planet. Normally, their procuring and workers are likewise more contrasted with other corporate. The claim against the organization was not the organization required when they were confronting other lawful issues, for example, the kid work and work of unlawful migrants. The claim was document ed by six ladies who state ladies were dealt with lower than the male regardless of whether they procured equivalent posts, capability and experience. The news previously arrived at each family, road and open spot therefore bringing the name of the organization down. This could hugy affect the company’s income and here we are not saying as far as hundreds or thousands of dollars we mean millions and billions of dollars. A portion of the effect could happen in the accompanying structures: ?The six ladies who documented the body of evidence against Wal-Mart are not just approaching the organization pay for the uncalled for deed yet in addition requesting that they take care of and make up for every one of the 1. 6 female representatives against whom Wal-Mart segregated. This would cost the organization a fortune in light of the fact that these 1. 6 female specialists were qualified for advancements, pay addition, trainings and other such things. To redress or repay that much su m for that much laborers would clearly have an immense and significant effect on the company’s money related position. ?The other way how this claim could influence the company’s money related position would be through the exchange or sales.Since significant piece of the customers establishes ladies, subsequent to hearing what Wal-Mart has done and how ladies are treated at Wal-Mart they would positively feel uncertain and ripped off. They would turn their backs and search for a superior spot to shop. This would prompt a fall in deals and increment in rivalry. ?Other thing is the notoriety and generosity of the organization. The claim as of now has brought the name of the organization down and what's more on the off chance that the organization neglects to win the case, at that point the organization would endure a gigantic fall of offer in the market. They would even need to close a large portion of the stores and start from the very beginning again which would be unth inkable taking a gander at the present market circumstance and all the opposition around the world. ?Also, not to overlook the turnover of laborers or workers. Arriving at this updates on segregation I for one accept that a large portion of the ladies workers will leave their place of employment, even the individuals who didn't encounter the circumstance. So meeting, choosing or selecting those new representatives would cost Wal-Mart another million. Additionally, those new representatives would have no understanding and would submit bunches of errors.Training them would again add to the expense. What are the significant good grumblings of the females suing Wal-Mart? Do you accept these ethical protests are defended? Why? The significant good protests of females suing Wal-Mart for the situation fundamentally spread the oppression female representatives. To call attention to what comprises those grumblings: ? Contrast in the advancement conspire among male and female workers ? The lo wer installment of wages and compensations to female representatives even they were at same level with male workers ? Inconsistent conveyance of the executives preparing among the male and female workers ?Male distributed a superior activity task contrasted with ladies even they were similarly qualified, positioned and experienced. Truly, I accept these protests are legitimate on the grounds that we can see from each point that ladies were not treated decently and similarly. It wasn’t that ladies needed anything or that they were reluctant to work, it was on the grounds that they were lady. We can contend with men and now and again may even demonstrate better than them however it is act like this what is pulling the intensity of ladies down. The six ladies who sued Wal-Mart didn’t sue to no end; they had physical verification and confirmations of the separation endless supply of the confirmations were found in the employees’ records where by Richard Drogin, a fa ctual master discovered that representatives atWal-Mart were isolated into two fundamental gatherings, hourly workers who involved the lower levels and salaried chiefs who involved the more significant levels. Pay increments from one level tithe straightaway. In 2001, salaried chiefs made about $50,000 per year while hourly representatives made$18,000. Drogin discovered that 65% of hourly workers were ladies as well as 33% of salaried supervisors comprised women. So at both the point ladies earned not as much as man. At the point when we likewise view the experience level, a normal lady was unmistakably more experienced than a normal man since ladies worked or stuck there for longer than men. Ladies in spite of having different duties like bringing up a child or dealing with the home, they devote more where they work that is the reason they have less turnover rates. So this means another motivation behind why the claim was fitting or reasonable. It is weird however obvious; the prese ntation rating of a normal lady was a lot higher than of a normal man.Drogin discovered that be it in a cashier’s place, a manager’s place or a deals associate’s place ladies performed superior to men. Anyway ladies were paid about 5% to15% occasions not as much as men and on that less ladies got elevated to the following position that too in quite a while though a man would get advanced inside the hypothesized time or even less into the following post. Wal-Mart was fined $188,000 by the California Fair Employment and Housing Commission for damaging California state law when it wouldn't reestablish a lady after she finished her maternity leave. In expansion, Wal-Mart additionally offers a sadly limited quantity of paid wiped out time for working ladies, and expects representatives to be accessible for shifts 24 hours every day, 7 days per week, making it amazingly hard for working moms to plan youngster care or get some much needed rest to think about a wiped out kid. So the central matter here is that at any edge or point we can see ladies were not offered reasonable and left endure. In the event that ladies don't meet up and battle for their privileges whenever they have the open door then ladies will consistently stay a victim. Then there is no utilization yelling at the store or ourselves that we merit more or we have earned it, it would be past the point of no return at that point. Other than the ethical objections by the female laborers at Wal-Mart there were significant issues including the representatives which were not noted before, a portion of the issues were: ? Wal-Mart pays low wages and appears to forcefully look to hold compensation down. By and large, Wal-Mart laborers gain an expected $8. 00/hour with a 32 hour work week. This equivalents $256 every week or $13,312 per year. The Federal neediness level for a group of threes $14,630. Conversely, association staple laborers win on normal 30% more. Charges have been made that m ore established laborers are laid off to get more youthful and less expensive workers. Somewhere in the range of 40 claims blame Wal-Mart for an inability to pay extra time. ?It pulls wages and advantages down in other supermarkets. It settles for what is most convenient option. At times, it powers the conclusion of better paying firms. Business Week gauges for each Wal-Mart supercenter that opens, two different general stores will close. ?It constrains providers to make items all the more economically, squeezing compensation, making employments be moved abroad. A year ago, it imported 12 billion in merchandise from China, 10% of US imports from that country. Wal-Mart doesn’t produce new innovation or advancements that improve the personal satisfaction. It takes business from existing firms by offering a similar product less expensive. That’s everything it does. So I trust it isn't just legitimate yet in addition legitimate to document the claim against such medication s. On that the confirmations and statics are on the women’s side so hence the claim is 100% reasonable. What, on the off chance that anything, do you think Wal-Mart ought to do to address these inconsistencies? Should the organization foundation a â€Å"affirmative action† advancement program for female employees? If all in all, what should this program resemble? The issue was brought about by the organization, Wal-Mart so certainly they need to discover an answer and attempt to address their missteps. They have just begun taking a shot at the issue. A portion of the activities they have taken are: ? They had posted â€Å"anti-discrimination† banners all over ? Ladies were allocated more duties and portrayal in territories they were assessed ? Ladies could enter salaried administration employments without migrating their homes. In any case, since such activities were not solidly executed some of them were sworn off wi

Math Somestudents have just taken a polynomial math class when they get to ninth grade, or are at any rate acquainted with the related conceptsof a pre-variable based math class. Polynomial math and geometry make up most of the math inquiries on the SAT, just as on the ACT. The ACT gets somewhat more progressed by covering some trigonometry. As I referenced over, a few understudies are as of now in further developed math classes when they take the SAT or ACT, as in pre-analytics or analytics, and mayhave gotten corroded with their variable based math, geometry, and likelihood. Both includea arrangement of sections (counting one sets), with inquiries concerning each, however the specific kind of passagesand style of inquiries shifts marginally. The entry put together inquiries with respect to the two tests need to ensure you comprehend the broadly useful of the section, just as its tone or style. You'll be approached to decipher a word or expression in setting, alongside showing your comprehension of subtleties. These are generally abilities of understanding perception and examination that you'll have created during your time of English classes in center school and ninth grade. Firmly connected to the perusing areas are the composing segment of the SAT and the English segment of the ACT. Composing and Grammar The Writing area of the SAT and English segment of the ACT are truly equivalent. Both test your comprehension of rules of sentence structure and punctuation. Both additionally incorporate a discretionary article. Much the same as in your first year English classes, these testswant you to comprehend punctuation rules, grammatical features, and sentence structure. The expositions ought to for the most part appear as a five-section enticing article upheld with solid models. Rehearsing these in class and through test prep will assist you with building up your English language and composing aptitudes, much the same as with perusing. One contrast with the SAT/ACT paper and articles you write in class may be that you'll be composing for the tests under coordinated conditions and by hand. In this manner you'll need to figure out how to design out your exposition in only a few minutes and draft it quick. Science In contrast to the SAT, the ACT has a science segment. Thismight sound like it requires a great deal of retention, yet really the science area is less about straight review of logical realities and increasingly about applying logical aptitudes, such as understanding outlines and charts and deciphering information. In this sense, the science area is practically more like the perusing segment than the math segment. Having some information on science, earth sciences, and science is useful, however, for being comfortable with the wording and having lab abilities that you can apply to genuine information. Since a ton of understudies take science with a lab first year, you'll most likely be in an incredible situation to excel on the ACT science segment. Much the same as with different segments, test prep on the ACT science can help fortify what you're realizing in class and give you an impression intonext year. It will reinforce your abilities with regards to the ACT and keep you from getting corroded and afterward referencing back t

Starting a Freelance Business What you Need to Do

Three types of people think about starting a freelance business. The first is the planner. Planners want all their ducks in a row before starting a new venture. They want to make sure that all their bases are covered, and that theyre not going to be left struggling financially in case of an emergency or in case their business fails. The second is the type whos ready to quit their job and instantly earn six figures by â€Å"doing what they love.† They saw it on an internet ad once, and now they think they’re ready to roll. The third lies somewhere in between. No matter which category you fall into, there are some things that you’ll at least need a basic understanding of before starting a freelance business. If you haven’t done it already, we recommend checking out The Online Writer’s Companion by our own P.J. Aitken. But for a few quick pointers, read on. Set Reasonable Expectations Before you do anything, think about your goal. Do you want to make extra money in addition to your regular salary? Do you want to fully replace that salary with earnings from starting a freelance business? You can do either, but please don’t think that you’ll be earning thousands a week right off the bat. Consider starting small. Join a platform like Upwork and bid for a few jobs so that you can get a feel not only for how to bid, but also for how much time you realistically have to work. A common misperception of new freelancers is that they’ll be able to keep their kids home with them or manage their household while they’re working. If this is your objective, great! But you probably won’t be able to earn more than a little bit of extra spending money. Treat your freelancing business like a business, and it’ll become one. If you treat it as a hobby, it will be nothing more than a hobby. Handling your Finances Alright, so you’re not thinking that you’ll be a millionaire tomorrow. What’s next? The first thing you want to do when you’re starting a freelance business is decide if you’ll have a business name. Now, this can serve two purposes. First of all, it can help to create your brand. But secondly and most importantly, it can help you keep your taxes in order. Freelancers have to pay taxes just like everyone else, but since we work primarily as independent contractors, there’s no one to take our taxes out. Choosing a business name can help to separate your personal income taxes from your business taxes, depending on how you’d like to file. Once you choose your name, you’ll need to use that name to fill out a W-9 form for every single client you work with. The idea of hiring an accountant can sound both enticing and expensive. If you’re working across a number of platforms, though, it may be worth it to you. Some sites will give you a form 1099, which will help you to keep records of your income all in one place. But others like Upwork and Fiverr will no longer provide these. Make sure you keep thorough records of your income so that April 15th doesn’t sneak up on you. Remember that desk planner you bought to help track your clients? Or the voice to text software that you purchased to help you â€Å"write† faster? Save the receipts. They’re tax deductible. Ask an accountant about your workspace, too. Sometimes you can take a deduction on your taxes if you have a dedicated room where you work. Taxes were a pain when you were at your desk job, and they’re going to be even worse now. Keep very close track of your invoices and your receipts, and you’ll be fine come tax time. Local help  with Starting a Freelance Business Did you know that the Small Business Association can help you get your business running? You probably already know that they can help you get a loan for a startup, but they can also help you determine what licenses and tax forms you’ll need. They offer other resources as well; don’t hesitate to contact your local office. Starting a freelance business isn’t all about taxes, though. You need actual paying clients. So how do you get them? First, we strongly recommend you join a platform like Upwork, or even Fiverr. These sites will put all the clients you’ll ever need in one place – all you’ve got to do is get hired. But if you want a few local clients, reach out to your networks. Put Facebook to work for you by asking your friends to share your service. Get in touch with your college buddies. And look into joining the Chamber of Commerce as a service provider. Hiring on with local businesses may not be the most lucrative opportunity for you. But it’ll definitely help you to build a portfolio that you can use to land higher paying clients later. And practice makes perfect: the more you write for these smaller clients, the better and faster you’ll become. Keep it Simple When you’re just starting a freelance business, it’s easy to find yourself with too many balls in the air. The tips in this article only just begin to cover the launch of your business, but please do read other articles on this site. We’ve all been where you are now, and mean to help you succeed in your business. As with any business, you’ll need to establish a client base, advertise your services, and manage your time very wisely. You’ll also need to be sure that you’ve got an understanding of your local laws. But the great thing about this job is that in some cases you can learn and build as you grow. We can’t stress it enough – you need to treat your freelance business like a full-time job if a full-time income is your goal. There’s no quick way to earn a living; if you disagree, please feel free to let us know your plan! But by keeping it simple and starting slowly, you can build a reputation as a legitimate business, and your client base will soon follow.

The Federal Legal Drinking - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 7 Words: 2035 Downloads: 7 Date added: 2019/10/30 Category Finance Essay Level High school Tags: Teenage Drinking Essay Did you like this example? The federal legal drinking age in the United States has been 21 since a 1984 legislation by Congress. This legislation was passed by raising the age from 18, and the arguments for this legislation were that among people under the age of 21, the following issues would decrease: death from suicide, car accidents, falls, and drowning. Other issues of concern relative to drinking in this age group are alcohol dependence, binge drinking, sexual assault and violent crimes, alcohol poisoning, and slower brain development. Approximately 5,000 people below the age of 21 die in alcohol-related incidents yearly, and there are many thousands of emergency room visits a year in this same age group due to drinking. Binge drinking is generally the architect in these situations, with upwards of 90% of the alcohol imbibed is during this act (CDC, 2017). Also linked with binge drinking are violent crimes and sexual assault that can occur when a minor has had too much. Inhibitions and clear thinking decrease, leading to circumstances where morality is less of a factor than it would be normally. The simple truth of right and wrong become hazy, and this is when good decision- making becomes impaired (Ghillyer, 2018 p. 6). The reasoning for the legislation was also to give young adults the chance to obtain what our society has deemed as the normal goals upon achieving adulthood. The brain doesnt fully mature until the age of 25, and alcohol can slow down or impair that growth. Achieving its full potential would be hindered. School performance and attendance tends to falter. Consumption also can lead to dependence later in life. Problems reaching goals such as marriage, employment, and financial independence can result (Buddy, 2018). Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Federal Legal Drinking" essay for you Create order The current age at which a person can enlist in the military is 18; or 17 with parental consent. This commitment is a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 6, dependent upon the rate (training), that the enlistee elects to undergo. After basic training, they attend advanced training in their specialty, and upon graduation they can be stationed anywhere in the world, including combat zones. This equates to possibly being deployed in a war zone at the age of 18. As the federal minimum drinking age is 21, this applies to the military also. Exceptions to that law are when stationed in a host country that allows drinking at a lower age, the base commander can elect to allow his subordinates the same right, at their discretion. In the early 1990s, when stationed in the United States within 50 miles of the Canadian or Mexican borders, soldiers could drink at 18; this was to prevent them travelling into the neighboring country and getting into worse trouble (Dieterle Rizer, 2017). This is no longer a policy that the armed forces practices. Depending on where you are stationed and the discretion of the base commander, determines the underage drinking rules. If a person volunteers for service, possibly putting themselves in harms way for their country, does that not show enough maturity to allow them to consume alcohol before they are 21? Discussion When a person joins the military, its very different than starting a new job or going off to college. The time commitment is just that, a set amount of time that is mandatory unless extreme events prevent further service; you cannot just give 2-weeks notice and search for employment elsewhere. The place your stationed also isnt your choice, unlike selecting your school or where you choose to work. You can be away from family and friends for many months, with no option of vacation to visit. Constitutional rights concerning search and seizure and privacy rights are diminished affording less protection to a member of the military (Staff, 2018). The term military service means serving your country and making sacrifices to provide that service. When a person not serving breaks the law by consuming or possessing alcohol, they generally receive a fine and/or community service. In Iowa, a first offense is a $200 fine, with that increasing to $500 for a third offense and the suspension of a drivers license for up to 1 year (N.A., 2018). The military has its own set of codes and punishments under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). The punishment for underage drinking can include all, part, or a combination of restriction to base for up to 45 days, extra duty for not more than 14 days, reduction in rank, loss of 50% base pay for up to 2 months. If an enlistee is the lowest rank of E-1, that amount approaches $1500 (Karns, 2018). If the offense is committed off-base, they will face these consequences on top of the civil fines. Consequently, our military under the age of 21 cannot legally drink and faces stiff fines and punishment. How does this make sense when we train them to fight our wars with weapons that can cause massive damage? This does not make any sense to me when in the past, our armed services were able to drink, and I cant remember, nor have I read in the history books, where a drunk soldier went on a rampage of death and destruction. If anything, their training helps them to handle circumstances they cant control, and often act with courage and integrity. Interviews In order to gain a larger picture of how different people of diverse ages and backgrounds view this dilemma, I conducted an interview. The following question is what I ask all the participants, their answers, and my thoughts on their replies. What are your views on a military member having the right to consume alcohol if they are under the age of 21? 1. Autumn McClintock, 13 years old, replied: I dont believe anyone should be able to drink if they are in war. If the enemy attacks they might be drunk and not able to fight back. Also, its never a good idea to mix guns and alcohol. If they arent in war, even if they are underage, they should be allowed 1 or 2 drinks, but only if they are in the military. McClintock, A. (2018, November 9). Personal interview. This surprised me a little bit as I didnt expect my daughter to have these views. SADD and zero-tolerance policies are heavily indoctrinated into them in this school district. Her idea that this type of service should enjoy a limited privilege was unexpected. 2. Jimmy Hunter, local police officer, replied: Being a police officer, I deal with this situation quite often. Marion is a zero-tolerance town for underage drinking, but each situation is unique. Underage is underage, and the law is clear, but we do have some flexibility in dealing with first offenses and situations where no real harm is being done. There are times where I have the alcohol poured out and then they must get home responsibly, either by a sober friend or taxi. When it comes to the military, I believe if the possibility is there that a person might make the ultimate sacrifice, they are generally mature enough to drink responsibly, and should be allowed to do so. Hunter, J (2018, November 10). Phone interview. This was the response I expected as most people in law enforcement identify with the military and believe that the training and sacrifice instills a responsible level of maturity. His message was more pointed towards being smart about it and behaving appropriately. 3. Laure Stoffel, naturalized U.S citizen from France, replied: We can legally drink wine and beer at 16, and liquors at 18 in France. Drinking wine when younger at restaurants is overlooked if you are with your parents. This is just our way of life. I think Americans are generally to uptight when it comes to these things. I think responsible drinking should be allowed to everyone at 16 or 18, regardless of being in the army. Stoffel, L. (2018, November 12). Personal interview. Again, this was the response I expected as Europeans are more liberal when it comes to alcohol consumption, most likely due to their exposure and culture. 4. Kimberly Starry, high school teacher, replied: Thats a tough one, but working with young people every day, I dont believe that people under the age of 21 are developed enough to drink responsibly. I hear horror stories from colleagues working at universities of students coming to class drunk, or not coming at all after a weekend of binge drinking. They just dont know when they have had enough and being in the military doesnt necessarily change that. Starry, K. (2018, November 8). E-mail. This response also surprised me a little as I feel that teachers are exposed to more diversity and different morals than most people through their students, and my assumption was different than her answer. I expected something along the lines of a mandatory class on drinking responsibly be taken by the service members to earn the privilege. 5. Mike Saunders, Vietnam Veteran, replied: When I was in the service many years ago the drinking age was 18. Also, at that time your buddies looked out for you, not saying that doesnt happen today, but that was a different era, and while the camaraderie is there, I dont know if its the same. Maybe just old-fashioned ideas, not sure, but that shouldnt matter. Military life can be stressful enough, add combat into that and you must be able to blow off steam somehow. I didnt volunteer, I was drafted, and I know its voluntary now, but if youre willing to die for your country, youre d*** sure old enough to have a drink. Saunders, M. (2018, November 12). Phone interview. Being formal military, this is in line with what I thought the reply would be. His alluding to the camaraderie of the past interested me; we still had a sense of camaraderie, but I dont feel to the same level. He keeps in touch with everyone alive from his unit. I do keep in touch with a few of mine, but not all. 6. Victoria Fejfar,University of Iowa senior, replied: I believe all people 18 or older should be able to drink. Yes, there will be people who abuse alcohol, but is that different for people over 21? Im old enough to vote, join the military, and pay bills, so I should be able to legally have a drink if I choose. Its just a way for the local governments to make money by fining us. Fejfar, V. (2018, November 10). Personal interview. I would expect someone in college, and underage, to feel this way and have the view that it should be legal. Its something that is already going on and alcohol is not illegal. Conclusion In conclusion, I believe that persons serving in the military should be allowed to legally drink, regardless of their location, with certain stipulations. The military issues identification cards to every member, and this could be presented in lieu of a drivers license. As part of core training, a course on responsible drinking and proper behavior befitting a soldier must be successfully completed. Many professions require continuing education, and this course should be taken yearly until the age of 21 is reached. This privilege should not be available when stationed in a combat zone or in hostile stations. I agree with my daughter wholly; guns and alcohol never mix. Punishments should be severe if the soldier abuses this right and laws are broken, or damage is caused. The code of ethics regarding drinking should be clear, as well of the consequences (Ghillyer, 2018 p.26). Consuming alcohol isnt an intrinsic right, it is a privilege. The military and its members are sometimes placed under immense pressure. They must be away from loved ones for extended periods of time, sometimes without the opportunity of contact for weeks. They also face the risks of severe injury, capture, and death. They must struggle with the moral dilemma of taking a life and deal with the psychological aftermath that comes with that action. Maybe our views on underage drinking are influenced by the Puritanical ethics brought here by our founders, or the ideas that brought about the Prohibition Act. I think ethics must continually evolve to keep pace with the changing times and world. They cannot always de defined in absolute terms of black and white, a shade of grey needs to be contemplated. If a soldier is properly trained and behaves within the confines of a strict code of ethics that exemplifies good personal values, then allowing them to drink shouldnt be an issue.

Restlessness and Agitation in People With Dementia Essay

Restlessness and Agitation in People With Dementia Restlessness and agitation are common in people with dementia. Cohen M et al (1986) attempted to define restlessness and agitation as inappropriate verbal, vocal or motor activity associated by 29 behaviors including general restlessness, constant attention seeking, complaining, negativism, pacing and screaming. In my nursing placement I experienced a case of vascular dementia. The name of patient, the name of the ward and hospital should remain unmentioned in the essay in order to maintain confidentiality. He used to become very agitated when the ward was busier, as the staffs in the ward have less time to spend with him and thus he feel ignored. Because I was a supernumerary staff I had much more time to spend with the patient than other nurses and carers in the ward. I tried to calm him down by talking to him calmly, asking him questions in the topics, which he liked to talk about, i.e. about his daughters, his previous job etc. When he started stacking furniture, I used validation therapy (Day 1997) to intervene. I found a way to calm him down by saying it wasnt time for closure of the bar yet, and there would be more customers coming. He would stop stacking saying, is it! Feil (1992) emphasized the importance of validation therapy as an intervention technique to respect the world and feelings of the person with dementia and to validate these feelings by focussing upon that persons experiences of here and now. It was at th is moment I talked to him about his daughters and work as a cab driver, asking him about tourists attraction places in London etc. He shocked me by his knowledge about all these places and he remembered every single of them. Knowledge Management And Internet Technology †Free Samples

Question: Discuss about the Knowledge Management And Internet Technology. Answer: Introduction In the current business scenario, knowledge management and internet technology play a significant role in business strategy. Hence, several organizations useknowledge management because it is a key source of getting sustainable advantages. In addition, the organization has required obtaining and modernizing their basic knowledge in order to keep away from competitive approaches with respect to discount on price because rational resources in the operation of a business are hard to imitate. Apart from this, there is a number of companies which use e-commerce to directly communicate with the bulk of customer at one time in across the world. In this way, while e-commerce has linked with business process and standard of the company then it aids the business to enhance their strategic growth. Consequently, it will lead to making improvement in the performance. This essay discusses the certain factors named knowledge management and e-commerce that has a positive impact on the business perfor mance of Foodmart Restaurant. Knowledge management and e-commerce in business practices According to Hislop (2013), knowledgemanagement is a process of acquiring, distributing and significantly utilizing the knowledge. Furthermore, KM is a discipline that leads to integrate the strategy in order to detain, access, repossess and shares the information regarding resources of the company. This information can be related to records, process, past un-captured data, credentials, and learning of the individuals. It is argued that workforce can improve the superiority and decision power by creating understanding with respect to management. Moreover, teamwork approach allows the Foodmart Restaurant to identify the experience and opinion of the high amount of customers and also provides extra concepts regarding preference of customers. It encourages the organization to implement creativity and modern culture in their business environment. Along with this, KM leads the Foodmart restaurant to spread its data and access the current information in the business perspectives. As a result, it can be opined that KM is an inter-disciplinary approach which directs the Foodmart restaurant to execute the innovation and cultural changes (Liebowitz, and Frank, 2016).Since, it can meet the organizations requirement and get the competitive benefits in the Australian restaurant industry. This argument is supported by different authors who explained that KM can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the business operation. Additionally, KM helps the company to take rapid action by developing understanding about foodmarts resources. It can also conduct a survey on the bulk of individual and can choose the knowledgeable person because it will facilitate the organization to improve their business performance (Holsapple, 2013). According to the Holtshouse (2013), KM is beneficial to enhance the level of customers satisfaction. The cross-alliance and sharing knowledge is significant to deliver the added value to customers. Foodmart Restaurant could be essential to offer prompt response consequently it will increase the demand of customer with respect to products and services that are offered by the company. It can be evaluated that prompt response delivery is significant for each company. Therefore, foodmart restaurant can exercise the KM approach to deliver prompt responses and build significant judgment with respect to the growth of the business. This approach facilitates the individual to conduct directly access about required information and tools. Consequently, it can be stated that KM strategy is effective to get competitive advantages in the restaurant industry of Australia (Jones, and Sallis, 2013). It is argued that knowledge management is beneficial to enhance the features of product and services of the organization. KM also improves the competencies of the workforces and encourages them for teamwork by spreading the understanding in physical and fundamental business environment. Consequently, it can be stated that foodmart restaurant can improve their business performance. Along with this, the company can be more innovative by exercising the knowledge management resources because it helps to access more current information (Becerra-Fernandez, and Sabherwal, 2014).Together with, foodmart restaurant can facilitate the superior quality of food and services by using the KM. In favored to this argument, it can be stated that foodmart restaurant can deliver the superior services and discover the new information through KM process. As a result, it would be effective to enhance the business operation and obtain competitive benefits in restaurant industry of Australia. Along with this, knowledge should be strategically managed because it will facilitate foodmart restaurant to gain their profitability and provides added value to customers. The company should implement pre-arranged and mutual set of business standard and policies because it will enable foodmart restaurant to minimize the errors and wastages from operations (Jimnez-Jimnez, et al., 2014). Therefore, it can be stated that company can be more innovative, disciplined and productive by using the KM because it helps to avoid the hurdles from a business process. According to the Alegre, et al., (2013), radical cost cutting is significant for each company. Foodmart restaurant can use the knowledge management infrastructure and logically reuse the information by using the integrated system because it will provide benefits to both customers and business. Furthermore, knowledge management enables the company to manage their data more effectively and efficiently. It also reduces the redundancy and wastages from production. As a result, KM would be beneficial for foodmart restaurant to save the fundamental expenses in both short and long term. It also helps the business to identify what could be done in business improvement and what is required for growth, and where is a requirement of using their knowledge. It is argued that electronic commerce is a significant component in modern business due to addressing the needs of the company, vendors, and customers. It is also beneficial for foodmart restaurant to reduce the expenses and creates superiority in products and services as well as increase the prompt service delivery. E-commerce activities should be exercised by foodmart restaurant in order to share paperless information with the customers (Laudon, and Traver, 2013).It can be done by using different tools named electronic bulletin board, electronic fund transfer, other network based technologies, and electronic data exchange. In the current business scenario, e-commerce is used to standardize the business operation. By using the electronic channels such as emails, the internet, mobile phone and computer network, foodmart restaurant can share the information about its product and services with the customers (Chiu, et al., 2014). This argument is supported by different authors who stated that a large number of opportunities are facilitated by the internet for a company such as endorsement of product and services. With the help of e-commerce practices, foodmart restaurant can create a positive image in the customers mind. Further, it can create a companys websites to spread the information and create awareness among the bulk of customers (Fang, et al., 2014). It also facilitates the customers to check the inventories detail and products characteristics and release the online press for companies. According to Wang et al. (2016), advertisement via online helps the company to contact with desired customers and proficient dealers for selling its product and services. Moreover, foodmart restaurant can deliver the wide categories of product and services through online channel as compared to selling it in physical stores due to the availability of customers are large in online stores. In addition, e-commerce facilitates the advantages to both prospective customers and business. For example, the customer can get wide categories of food from online channels as it would create demand towards it. As a result, it will have a favorable impact on the profitability and financial performance of the business. It is argued that e-commerce enables foodmart restaurant to deliver a wide range of services through online channels like ordering food, feedback, complaint, rewards and discount offers, and online payment mode. However, it cannot deliver the physical goods hence it may use effective supply chain management system by which it can ship the product to the customers (Turban, et al., 2017). Along with this, it must choose the option of automated inventory management and online tracking to deliver the physical goods with the customers. Foodmart restaurant can provide different online payment mode for transaction named credit card payment processing, and electronic fund transfer (Huang, and Benyoucef, 2013). As a result, it would be beneficial to create a distinct image in customers mind as compared to its competitors in Australian restaurant industry. This argument is supported by some authors who stated that company can increase the revenue of product and service by providing support to customers through online channels. In the initial phase, foodmart restaurant can share their electronic part of the products like sharing its products menu on websites of the company. At the same time, it can create a forum with respect to customers for overcoming their issues (Hartono, et al., 2014). Foodmart restaurant can also provide the online chat process with free of cost for their users in which they can communicate about buying process of goods and can get the support of employees. According to Da Costa (2016), e-commerce is significant in modern business practices due to the availability of a wide category of products and services, high speed of accessing the information, reach at a large number of customers on a global level, and ease of use for customers and companies. However, it can be ineffective in some manner like sometimes customers are not able to see the product detail before purchase due to technical issues and waiting for delivery of the goods. Conclusion As per the above interpretation, it can be summarized that both knowledge management and e-commerce is a significant part to improve the business practices. KM is advantageous to enhance the efficiency of foodmart restaurant and also improves the business process. E-commerce is another factor that provides high satisfaction to customers due to ease of use. It also helps to communicate with the bulk of customers. Hence, it can be concluded that both KM and e-commerce are essential for Foodmart restaurant to improve their business performance and practices. References Alegre, J., Sengupta, K., Lapiedra, R.
